Double, Double Toil and Trouble

Double toil and trouble is right! I'm working on my Halloween wallhanging for the Wicked Blog Hop, witch has started! Today's fun line up of participants is:

My day is not until the 30th, witch is a good thing because I'm stuck on one section. The cauldron section.

First I did this one:

But something didn't seem right, so I made this one:

Now this one doesn't feel right either. Feels a little flat? I'm leaning towards the first one cauldron, but redoing the potion. Thoughts? Suggestions? Spells I could cast to make one of them work so they don't revoke my witch license?

  1. I like the second cauldron... how about adding something falling into it to help with the flat look. I like the "light" on the 2nd one better. I am sure whatever you decide will be awesome. Don't over think it. Looks awesome. Colors are great.

  2. I am sincerely in awe, what a fantastic job! I really like the second one because it gives the sense that the light is coming from the left but that there might be other lights from the right so it doean't really read flat to me. I can't wait until I see everything you will brew up with this idea!

  3. How about adding some half circles to the second one to make boiling bubbles. I bet that will take the feeling of flatness out of it.

    It looks great so far!

  5. I like both! The first looks like it is bubbling up.

  6. I like number two. Why not add a few bubbles rising out of the cauldron with steam rising also...hard to describe:)

  9. I really love the first one. The pot if fantastic and it the potion has a steamy cooking feeling to it. :) The second one is pretty awesome too. Seems like you wont go wrong.

  10. I like them both, but agree they need bubbles. The first potion looks like it is about to erupt which is a really cool look for a potion. If you use the first one, a steam of green down the side with bubbles will finish the spell!

  11. I like the second one too, but needs a little something in the large black area under the rim of the cauldron in front. It looks like it's coming out rather than curving in. I like the swirl in this one rather than bubbling. Maybe a stick stirring the green stuff?!

  14. I like the second cauldron too - bubbles came to my mind too, as a way to add a bit of movement to the image. You could stitch swirls of steam too.
