It Seemed Like Such A Good Idea At The Time

The hand stitching, I mean. At first it was just going to go here and there, but then I liked it a lot. So I decided to do it for all the pieces. And then machine quilt ~ 1/8" apart. Yeah. That's a lot of hand stitching AND a lot of machine quilting...for a project that I'm hoping to have finished for TGIFF!, which I'm hosting this week.

Even though I'm cursing my decision because of the lack of time, I'm loving the mix of the hand stitching combined with the machine quilting. Will I get it done for Thursday night? Any wagers?

  4. This is beautiful. Keep going with the hand quilting. Would it be cheating to say on Friday that you've finished, and then decide later to add a bit more hand stitching?

  5. Don't you just love when you get so ambitious right before a deadline? I am in the same boat right now too, so I am feeling your pain. But Marly (above) has a great idea! But no matter what the stitching looks fantastic!

  8. I am curious to see the whole thing. I am loving those colors, stitches and the waviness of it all. I don't know how large this item is, so I am thinking if it's not a king size quilt, that you will "get 'er done".

  12. Wow this is wonderful - I love it and the colours are gorgeous together. Maybe you do selected areas around the quilt and fillin the blanks later. It is fabulous and so very very pretty - it was or should I say IS a good idea. I often think that I wish I could buy time at the same time I buy fabric to make my project.!! Good luck - can`t wait to see how you get on with it.

  15. No need to rush this. The mix of hand and machine stitches is wonderful. Who cares if it does not get finished Friday. Enjoy the process, MR, and you will be thrilled with the result, whether it is done this Friday, or some other Friday.

  17. It's absolutely beautiful. I hope you'll continue that way. Maybe you could finish something smaller for this Friday. I also love the layout you chose with the gray both at the top and bottom. It was my favorite one.
