Anyway, my first workshop of QuiltCon was Making Faces with Melissa Averinos. I adore her work and wanted to learn more about her techniques. We were thrilled to be interrupted shortly into the start of the class to be told that Melissa's My Brother's Jeans won Best of Show! She was ecstatic, we were ecstatic for her. What an amazing moment!
The class was a lot of fun. I learned a lot about facial proportions and fabric combinations. Here are some photos of my project taking shape.
Here is where I finished for the day. See, resting bitch face, eh? Is it the pouty lips? The eyes?
Here are some of the faces from other members of the class. Love the variety!
I did remember to ask for a photo with Melissa and she was super gracious about it. Only one resting bitch face in this photo! :D
Thank you Melissa for a fabulous class!
Hope you all are having a great weekend!
I adore this quilt and it's fun seeing the variety of work from the class. There may be an improv Resting Bitch Face version in my future,if for no other reason but to steal the name :).
ReplyDeleteSo funny! I had no idea :))
ReplyDeleteAwesome face and some might say not nearly bitchy enough! Bravo!!
ReplyDeleteToo funny! You probably already saw the YouTube video on Resting bitch face

PS - love the quilt faces- class looked really fun
These quilts are amazing. The TMQG has a challenge to do a self portrait. It would have been good to have this class before hand.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors you chose and how it shaped up! Looks like such a fun class.
ReplyDeleteLove it!! I find it so interesting and enjoy seeing the different faces. I really like yours and the one with the short shag, where the face blends into the background.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I think you did a great job with this piece.
ReplyDeleteI looove your face! You don't have Resting Bitch Face, and I don't believe it's an insult in any case. Bitches get shit done. There's an interesting feminist discussion to be had around the concept of RBF - why isn't there an equivalent for men? Why do we expect women to look happy all the time?
ReplyDeleteThis was super fun to read. And also, everything Felicity said above. :)
