Works in Progress Wednesday - Pokey's Job Is Safe From Me Edition

Wow, holy Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day, Batman! Welcome to all of you who decided to follow along on my quilting adventures or misadventures, as the case may be. I'm hosting TGIFF! this Friday so get those finishes ready to share and celebrate. I'll be sharing my Seeing The Forest!

My interview on the French talk show was yesterday. It was a lot of fun (I'll talk anyone's ear off when it comes to quilting!), but it's safe to say that Quilting Arts TV won't be asking me to take over for Pokey anytime soon. I can now confirm that it's just as weird to see yourself on TV as it is to hear your recorded voice. :)

Completed Projects:

Mini I Spy Charity Quilt: This quilt has been on the On Hold pile for some time for no good reason. As I was quilting Su{Brrr}nova, I noticed that I had started quilting a few times without the stitch regulation feature of my machine. I decided to use this quilt to practice free motion quilting without the stitch regulation. The stitches are a bit bigger than with the stitch regulator, but otherwise it is fine. This will go to a preemie at a local hospital. It's never too early to introduce a child to Elmo. :)

With some Elmo on the back!

Current Projects:

Seeing the Forest for the Trees Quilt: Very happy with this one and, as I mentioned above, I'll be sharing it for this week's TGIFF!

Hard Core: No progress.

Something New Sampler: No progress.

Scrappy Trip Along: No progress.

Scrap{Bee} Quilt: No progress.

Kingston quilt: No progress.

WIP Wednesday Recap: Under 20 again! Still feeling the urge to clean up the WIP list though...what to tackle next?

It's Giveaway Time!

It's Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day! If you haven't been here before, welcome! I'm M-R (stands for Michèle-Renée) and I've been quilting for about 15 years. I live in Ottawa, Canada with the hubster and three boys (8, 6, and 3). I'm currently on leave from my job to be home with the kids. I love trying new things in quilting -- modern, arty, even a little traditional here and there. Here are some of my finishes over the last couple of years:

Alright, let's get on with the giveaway, shall we? I'm about to start a project with this fabric palette so I thought I'd share a fat quarter bundle of it with one of you:

How can you win? This giveaway is open to everyone and all you have to do is leave a comment with your favourite colour combo. Followers or new followers get a bonus entry -- just leave me a comment letting me know how you follow along.

This giveaway will be open until May 10th at 5 p.m. PST, at which point I will pick a winner via random number generator. No reply bloggers, please leave an email address so I can contact you otherwise I'll have to choose someone else. Hint: If you've commented on my blog before (except for giveaways) and not received a response, you are a no reply blogger.

I probably won't be able to respond to all the comments, but I'm certainly looking forward to reading them. Thanks for entering and good luck!

For more fun giveaways, visit the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway page.

Psst: I'll be having another giveaway in a couple of weeks to celebrate my two year blogiversary!

Bits and Snips

Next weekend is the Ottawa Valley Quilter's Guild's biennial Festival of Quilts show at the RA Centre here in Ottawa. It runs Friday morning to Sunday afternoon. This year, we have almost 300 quilts on display -- a fabulous variety of styles to suit any quilter or quilt enthusiast. There's also an awesome merchant mall -- over 20 vendors! I'll be volunteering Sunday morning, but will probably be checking out the quilts Friday morning. So if you are in the area, check it out. It's definitely worth a visit!

And speaking about the quilt show...is what I'll be doing on TV on Tuesday...in French! A local show called Entre Nous wanted to interview someone about the guild and the show. Somehow my name came up and sure, I'm game. Gulp! Now I'm brushing up on proper French quilting vocabulary as I doubt the hosts would appreciate the Franglais I use with my French guild friends. ;) Wish me luck! BTW, did you know that quilter is courtepointière (female) or courtepointier (male) in French? Well, now I do and you do too. :)

Like many other quilters around the blogosphere, I made a flag for To Boston With Love. The hubster and I lived in Beantown for three years and it has a very special place in my heart. I was horrified to see what had happened in the marathon. I'm looking forward to finding out where they will hang the flags -- Boston Common? MIT Campus? Harvard Campus? Faneuil Hall? Along the Charles River? The Rose Kennedy Parkway? This is mine. Just don't look too closely -- I was a bit distracted while doing the zigzag stitching and there are a few oopsies. :) This initiative was launched by the Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild and everyone is welcome to participate!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Oh, it's Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day on Monday so be sure to come back to enter my giveaway!
