My Favourite (Quilty) Things

While quilting the other day, I had on one of my favourite movies, The Sound of Music. I can still remember the first time I watched it. I must have been 6 or 7 -- loved it! I got to stay up way past my bedtime to watch it on TV. There were even commercials. And there was kissing!

Watching the movie again reminded me of a quilty knock off I did of one of its famous songs for our guild newsletter a few years ago. Apologies if this becomes your earworm today. ;)

My Favourite (Quilty) Things

Quilt blocks, design walls and all-cotton batting,
Rotary cutters and warm woollen feltings,
Brown paper challenges tied up with strings,
These are a few of my favourite things.

Cream coloured fabrics and self-healing mats,
Workshops and courses and quarters so fat!
Wild geese that fly through our quilts and hangings,
These are a few of my favourite things.

Women in white gloves at huge Quilt Show bashes,
Fabrics that stay in our purses and stashes,
Warm quilting nights that melt into mornings,
These are a few of my favourite things.

When the cutter bites,
When the pin stings,
When I’m feeling sad,
I simply remember my favourite things,
And then I don’t feel so bad.

Oh, and just so you get a sense of how eclectic my listening tastes are, I've also been working on some quilty lyrics to "Bleed It Out" by Linkin Park. Ha ha!

Happy Monday all!
