TGIFF! - Grey Squared

Happy Friday/Almost Friday, everyone and welcome to TGIFF! I had hoped to finish all three remaining pieces in my mini modern quilt series, but this bug has really kicked my butt. I did get one of them finished though. Edited: This mini quilt was also part of my One Thing One Week Challenge with Amy's Creative Side, which I completely forgot to mention on Thursday in my strep throat induced haze. Thanks again, Amy, hosting such a great challenge!

Amy's Creative Side
This mini quilt series is meant to go in my sewing room as a reminder to try different things. Although all the minis have the same layout and size (12" by 28"), they each have different colour schemes and quilting designs. I showed you the white one, Semaphore, on Monday.

This is the grey one, which I'm calling Grey Squared. It's a very dreary day here so I had a lot of problems trying to get photos that properly captured the colours. Here's one with the flash on, which gets the grey, dark orange and dark blue right.

Here's one with the flash off, which gets dark teal and chartreuse right. Anyone else find this challenge when they photograph their quilts?

For this mini, I did stippled squares in a matching grey thread. What a different texture than Semaphore, eh?
Detail of the quilting
This mini was also quite a bit out of my comfort zone. I've never used grey as a neutral before, nor used this colour combination.

We're starting to look at finding TGIFF! hosts for April, May and June. If you'd like to host a TGIFF!, sign up on the TGIFF! site.

  2. I love it! The texture from the quilting is wonderful. Trying to get good pictures is always a challenge, I usually end up using no flash, but then playing with the brightness and contrast in a photo editing software.

  11. This looks great - it's amazing how changing the colours and quilting (compared to semaphore) can make it so very different.
