Su{Brrr}nova

Supernova by Lee of Freshly Pieced has been on my bucket list ever since I saw it a year and a half ago. LOVE! All those pieces though...and needing an accurate 1/4" seam...and all those pieces...it's fussy, and I don't do fussy. I love that quilt though so I resolved to do fussy.

What colours to use? For a while, I thought I'd use the Flea Market Fancy (FMF) I won earlier this year from Mad About Patchwork. I even cut all the white for the background and strips of the FMF, intending to send it to my bee mates (let them deal with all those pieces...muwahaha!) But then I had to decide fabric placement and that stumped me for a while.

Just as I was about to cut into the FMF, I saw what Angela of Cut to Pieces did with her FMF and fell in love. Well, there was no question but I'd have to save my FMF for that. Back to the drawing board.

This weekend, it all came together. I had some Brrr! that I didn't know what to do with. All of a sudden, I saw those polar bears in the middle of a Supernova block. Sweet! Would it work? It does. Not perfectly, and I had to add some complementary fabrics so I'd have enough, but I'm loving it so far.

Here's the first block of Su{Brrr!)nova (terrible pun, I know, but pretty awesome too, right?). ;D Still, all those pieces...sigh!
