Quilt Hack #4 - Fits Like A Glove

I've used a couple of different brands of free motion quilting gloves and they are great. When I mentioned that I need to pick up a new pair of quilting gloves because I'd worn away the grips, a friend tipped me off to coated gardening gloves.

They are snug and lightweight, and provide great grip so your hands don't get too hot. I love mine and got several pairs for the same price as one pair of quilting gloves.

  1. Interesting. My last pair of quilting gloves cost $10, and my gardening gloves usually cost more per pair so you must have a great source. I actually find the gardening gloves too hot and cumbersome when I garden so prefer the lighter weight quilting gloves with just the rubber finger tips but what ever works for you is the best choice.

  2. I also use gardening gloves in the winter but they are too hot to quilt with in summer. But I love the grip! I got a 3 pack at Lowe's for $5

  3. I love my Machingers...except they only last a year before the wrist elastic starts to stretch out and the glove is too loose. So I will definitely be trying some gardening gloves next.

  5. Interesting. I am due to replace my Machingers and although I love them, I would not mind trying another type. Can you share which brand you used?

  7. I like the dollar store ones with just the rubber dots, i finds the style you show here too hot, especially in the summer.

  9. It's a good hack - I'll have to watch for some in the shops after winter and store a few. My current quilting gloves shoooooulllllld last that long. Surprising how much we wear on them, eh?!
