TGIFF! - Quick Fix

Welcome to TGIFF! I'm celebrating my first finish of 2015. Woo hoo!

This jelly roll race quilt made with a Kona Dark jelly roll was a quick quilting fix for me so I'm going to stick with the name -- Quick Fix. :)

It's very much like my Mod 1600 so that we could have coordinating family room quilts for TV watching.

I straight-line quilted every 1/2" from the seams using Aurifil 1158 on the front and Coats & Clark white on the back. Unlike Mod 1600 though, I didn't do any diagonal quilting and I used Kona Charcoal for the binding.

It's backed with IKEA Numbers. Still have a lot left of that fabric on my bolt... :)

Finished size is 49" by 66".

Some interesting colour combinations caught my eye:

Simple and straightforward. A good way to start 2015.

  1. Do you mean a first finish for 2015, or did we go back in time? lol :)

Such a perfect quilting choice! I don't think I've seen one of these in a solid before. I like it!

  10. Wonderful finish! The dark colors contrast so nicely with your winter photo shoot, and I love how the top thread looks like a different color in each of your close up shots.

  11. Gorgeous! I love both the front and the back - I love that Ikea fabric every time I see it and I love the way it pairs with this quilt!

  12. I love these colors in the Jelly Roll Race! My first Jelly Roll Race quilt isn't even done being quilted yet as it was my first attempt at free motion quilting and that was not working. Ha! These colors are gorgeous together and especially for winter! Yet I think in the sun during the summer time will really be bright and cheery... very versatile!

  16. You may be starting the year "simple and straightforward", but I bet your output will be way more complex before the year is over.

  18. This is neat! I've never done a jelly roll race quilt because they don't appeal to me. But I really like how this one and your Mod 1600 turned out. Very striking without being garish or "hyper".

  19. I've never done a jelly roll race quilt, but I quite like this one. Maybe it's the solids taking some of the 'crazy' out so it just looks calmer and prettier. Great finish!
