Works in Progress Wednesday - May 16, 2012

On Monday, I started experiencing a strange and rare urge to garden. It was very odd and I'm not sure where it came from. I was tempted to ignore it and hope it went away, but then I figured that I should probably take advantage of the urge and weed the out-of-control back garden. I'm half way done and I think I'm getting most of the weeds. I think I've also probably pulled a few actual garden plants -- oops. With any luck, I can finish getting the garden organized before this earth mother feeling passes. ;)

On to quilty business...

New Projects: Started and finished a fun hostess gift for one of my longtime friends. I love these coasters in the solids and I see many more in my future. I used this tutorial by Laura of Quokka Quilts. I especially love them because they can double as wine glass charms so we lushes can keep better track of our drinks. :)

And speaking of lushes (me not her), Here is my friend Suzy and I at our grade 8 reunion. It's been 3 or 4 years since the two of us spent any significant time together, but it was like we'd never been apart. So fun!

Completed Projects:
Micah's Growth Chart - is done and I shared it last Friday, along with Daniel and Patrick's growth charts. Woo hoo! I will do a tutorial on it in June sometime when I make my niece's growth chart.

Current Projects:
Modern Block Monday Sampler - This week was Fractured Triangles by Jessica Brown. No points cut off! Yay!

FMQQAYGQAL/QAYGFMQQAL - Done the sashing and I've started on the binding. Soooo excited about this one! :)

Spiral/Spring seta colour
Wedding quilt
Nine patch colourwash

  2. Oh, just love the growth charts. I love the coasters too. I have an Easter set my mom made. Good to know there's a tutorial out there, as my mom didn't leave me the pattern.

  4. It was a weak moment and some free time that started my gardening. Now I have no free time and the weeds still keep coming. Happy Day. Maybe a grow chart for gardens? lol

  10. Wow, your fractured triangles block is perfectly put together! And I love the growth charts - very clever. It's so great to get back with old friends and feel like nothing has changed - I rarely see my old peeps and I miss that!

  13. I like the coasters in the solids. I wouldn't have thought of such simplicity in choosing fabrics. I would have loved growth charts like that when my kids were younger!
