Works in Progress Wednesday - December 7, 2011

Wednesday again? Geez, you'd think it comes every seven days or something. Late blogging start today. With the exception of the tree, we finished decorating the house. Woo hoo! I have to admit that I was starting to get a little anxious about all my Christmas to dos. But I knocked a number of them off the list today, the decorating being the biggest, so I'm one happy camper. The best part was doing part of the decorating with the kids. They were awesome. No fighting or anything! They are now enjoying Frosty Returns while I get dinner (and this post) going.

I'm also happy to report that my finish is...er...finished (sorry, couldn't resist) for this week's TGIFF! As always, if you've got a finish, you are more than welcome to link up. Let's see those holiday gifts and projects! Check out the TGIF Friday! site for more details.

New Projects:
Asterisk - I was at the dollar store the other day and spotted these great pot protectors. You are supposed to put them between your pots so they don't get scratched. Yeah, whatever, that's not something I really worry about. I loved the asterisk shape and the colour. They are made of felt. I picked up a couple of packages to see what I could do with them. They might make a cool table runner, with the added benefit of being a hot pad of sorts. Hmmm...

Completed Projects:
Micah's Advent Calendar - Done! Posted about this last week.

Current Projects:

Wee Spy Quilt - Good progress on this one.

Clockwork Orange - The backing is finished. This puppy is pin basted too. I forgot to take pictures of the back before I pin basted it and rolled it up.

Just Me and My Peeps - The backing is almost finished. I'm starting to think that the backing is taking longer than the top took to piece.

On Hold:
Red and Tan Amish Wedding Ring
Tangled Garden
Spiral/Spring seta colour

UFOs that may one day get finished, but really who knows?
Chop Suey
Wedding quilt
Linus quilt
Nine patch colourwash

Aw, crap. I think dinner's burning. Gotta go! I'm linking in to WIP Wednesday at The Needle and Thread Network. Let's go check out the fun stuff going on over there.

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

  1. Yay for getting the decorating done -- and some quilting! I have been making some Xmas crafts with the kids. Last night I let them loose with 200+ pipe cleaners ... I think only about 3 or 4 turned into candy canes. Oh well. I think your peeps quilt will be cool.

  4. Pieced backs may be stash busters but they sure aren't time savers. Oh, I luv those asterisks! Very cool, I shall be looking, too!

Wholecloth Experiment

I've been mulling over an idea about doing a colourful wholecloth using the walking foot quilting technique I learned from Heather Lair,...
