Works in Progress Wednesday - May 23, 2012

Yep, the urge to garden passed almost as quickly as it came on. Good thing I didn't order a cubic yard of topsoil and mulch. He he. I did manage to clear out most of the weeds and mow the lawn before the feeling passed. :)

My main focus for the next couple of weeks will be finishing up the presentation I'm giving for my guild in June. If you are in the Ottawa area on June 4th and would like to come, I'm going to be presenting to the Ottawa Valley Quilters Guild on the online quilt world and modern quilting. Doors open at 7 at the St. Anthony Soccer Club on Preston Street and the meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. It's 5$ for guests and they are most welcome! I've been having a lot of fun pulling this together and I even snagged some Aurifil thread from Alex Veronelli to giveaway at the meeting and later that week here on the blog. Woo hoo!

In other quilty news...

New Projects:
Colour My World Cyan - My original idea of doing a shadow play has changed. This is a rough sketch of what I'd like to do - something very simple à la Dan at Piece and Press.

I've done my two layers. Now I just need to put them together and stitch the design. What I'm not sure about is whether to do the darker on top and the lighter underneath or the lighter on top and the darker underneath. Thoughts?

Completed Projects:
What the FMQAYGQAL? - DONE and it's my Bloggers' Quilt Festival entry. Woo hoo! Thank you all for the kind comments! It even got a shout out from Laura on her Quokka Quilts blog

Current Projects:
Modern Block Monday Sampler - This week was Garden Lattice by Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr. Liking the luminosity of this one.

Spiral/Spring seta colour
Wedding quilt
Nine patch colourwash

  1. Good luck with your presentation to your guild! If I was in the area, I'd definitely stop by. I like your two woven squares. I think I'd go with your sketch - light on top and dark beneath, but either way it will look awesome! You always do such great work.

  2. Great pieces M-R...I have no idea which way you should put the new piece together; no artist in me. I am sure it will look fantastic.

  3. I can't wait to finally meet you on the 4th!! My mom will be joining me. I love your idea for the Cyan challenge this month. I would go with the darker on top, but it will look great either way! I hope to be finishing mine this weekend, that and painting a bathroom!! Wish me luck!

  5. No where near you to see you, drats! You have been busy! I can't wait to see the Dan inspired quilt, but I seriously have no idea which should go on the top. Go with your instincts, you are awesome at that!

  6. I guess you need to decide whether the checkerboard is to the front or off in the distance. ???

  7. I'm really curious how you will work out that first piece.

  9. I'm really looking forward to how you put those 2 together for this Colour Your World project. (But I'm no help, am I?)
