Works in Progress Wednesday - September 19, 2012

I'm struggling a bit with low energy this week so this will not be a 'scintillating' post by any means. ;)

New Projects: No! There is a moratorium on starting new projects...but not designing new projects. I've been playing with a couple of designs for another triangle quilt.

Completed Projects:
Heathia - It's done and shared.

Wee Spy Quilt - Made for a silent auction to raise funds for a local park renovation. Um, it didn't raise much funds. Oh well. It's getting a new home in the Queen Charlotte Islands!

Current Projects:

Modern GoodnessMaking good progress and I'm almost finished the top.

Torn-strip Appliqué Landscape - no progress.

Appliqué/Quilt/Paint Thing - no progress.

  1. Bummer your wee spy didn't raise bajillions. I think nonquilty people sometimes don't know awesomeness when they see it. Or they've just never snuggled under an ispy with a little one.

  2. I think the average person doesn't understand the amount of work that goes into handcrafted quilts. Or any handcrafted item for that matter. It's only another craft person who really understands.

  6. The Heathia piece is wonderful!!

Silent auctions are the worst for getting good money for stuff, I've heard. A normal auction can also bring a disappointingly low amount. My friend who's been on that end of the quilting business for a lot of years will not make quilts that are to be auctioned for that reason. I think the tried and true money making method for quilts is raffles.

  10. Love your Heathia art quilt - Just a note about silent auctions - Its a place to give art work away cheap!( my opinion) Place a reserved bid helps or out right sell the piece and donate the funds to the cause. As someone said many do not appricate the hard work you put towards your art/craft. I think selling Raffle tickets may be the better choice sometimes.
